Where is it?

The Philippines is an Asian Country, more particularly a Southeast Asian one. This archipelago consisting of 1,707 islands has Taiwan to its north, with Bashi channel separating the two countries. To its south is Sabah, Malaysia. It is believed that the early settlers of the country came from this area of Malaysia. On its west, you can find the South China Sea and on the east side, you have the Pacific Ocean. It is a strategic location both for trade and military as it is a gateway to the mainland Asia via the Pacific Ocean.

It’s safe and it’s fast

The fastest and statistically safest way to travel is by air. This is no different when you want to visit this tropical paradise. There are 4 primary international airports in the Philippines. This means there are 4 internationally accepted gateways to this country. The Ninoy International Airport found in Manila is one of the oldest airports in the Philippines. Formally known as the Manila International Airport, this is one of the busiest and largest airports in the country. Mactan Cebu International Airport located in Metro Cebu is another international airport being used by international travelers. This makes it easier for tourist and travelers to visit the Visayan region without having to go to Manila first. Subic Bay international Airport found in Subic, Zambales offers direct access to the world famous Subic Bay tourist destination points. Likewise, the Diosdado Macapagal Airport or the Clark International Airport in Angele Pampanga is another option to take. International flights are 24/7. Simply check your preferred carrier for flight schedules.

Secondary international airports

Apart from the 4 major international gateways, there are 4 other secondary international airports in the Philippines. One is located in North Luzon, while three are found in Mindanao. Furthermore, there are numerous trunk-line airports scattered all over major cities in the Philippines. These major domestic airports provide service even to large commercial flights. In addition, there are several minor airports that operate. However, they don’t have 24-hour operations. Smaller feeder airports and runways are also open. But these only cater to smaller prop planes.

Asia’s First

The Philippine Airlines (PAL) is the flag carrier of the country. It has the distinction as being the first airline in Asia. It serves passengers for both international and domestic flights. In spite of the numerous predicaments it has faced, it remains to be one of country’s major carriers.

The Philippines is not difficult to find. More importantly it is easy to get there! Enjoying the trip going there is half the fun when embarking on a Philippine escapade.
